XRD common problems

2023-10-28

1. What is the difference between the results of XRD copper target and drill target test?

Answer: The d value of crystal plane spacing is an inherent landmark parameter of crystal structure, so no matter what kind of target X-ray tube is used, the d value of crystal plane spacing obtained from the row image is fixed, independent of the target. However, the relative intensity between the diffraction peaks obtained by different targets for the same sample is slightly different, which is related to the target material.

XRD

2. What is the detection limit of XRD? Can the phase with relatively low content in the sample be detected?

Answer: The detection limit of XRD has a great relationship with the type and crystallinity of the substance under test, and there is no clear detection limit. In general, the content of less than 5% of the phase is not necessarily detectable. If the content is relatively low, if the conventional scanning speed can see a weak peak signal, you can consider reducing the scanning rate, the effect may be better.
